We all have "Mental Health", just as we all have "Physical Health". Mental Ill health can strike at any time and can affect people from all walks of life. Even prior to the COVID pandemic, mental health issues in the UK were becoming more evident with many prominent personalities opening up about their own struggles. As many as one in four adults experience mental health issues each year.
Although talking about mental health has become more common, there can still be real stigma attached when it comes to "opening up", "admitting a problem" and/or "sharing personal struggles" be it with family, friends, colleagues or even health care professionals. As a result many individuals will contain a problem until it becomes unmanageable and they are really struggling to cope.
will help you spot the early signs of mental Ill health and play your part in providing early support to someone who may be at risk of developing serious mental health issues.
The course is designed to increase Mental Health Awareness in lay-people, and help challenge stigma and discrimination. It provides participants with the ability to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek professional help.
